Biography

TROY Richard E. LaJeunesse, 55, of Brunswick passed into eternal life after a struggle with a lifelong illness on January 2, 2012 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Troy on April 27, 1956, is was the son of the late Robert LaJeunesse, Sr. and Janet Brant LaJeunesse and loving husband of Bernadette Verdile LaJeunesse of Brunswick. They were marred for 31 years.
Raised and educated in Lansingburgh, Rick was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1974 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena College in 1978. He worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance where he helped many people with their insurance and financial needs. He also worked as a sales representative for Pitney Bowes Corporation. Most recently, Rich worked as a substitute teacher at both St. Mary's School in Waterford and the Lansingburgh School District. Rick married the love of his life Bernadette. Rick and Bern have a daughter Sarah who is the brightest and truest light of their life. Rich's love for his daughter cannot be measured, as it has been the driving force in his life for the past 17 years. Rick's love of family and friends was evident by anyone who knew Rick. If you met Rick, you would immediately feel at ease and feel as if he were your friend and there to help you immediately. He was well liked and loved by all with who he came in contact. In addition to his incredible love of family, friends and life, he had a strong dedication to community. He continued to give back all through his life to the community in which he grew up. As well as the school that helped educate his daughter. Rick was a long standing member of the Lansingburgh Rotary and had served as its president in two different terms of office. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding and dedicated service. In addition, he has been a long standing member of the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. Through the years, Rick also volunteered in many different capacities at St. Mary's School in Waterford. This included volunteering his services as a CYO basketball coach, as well as any other duties that the school needed in order to perform its mission. Rich's life was rooted in both his family and his community. Rick was an avid sport's fan, especially when it came to Siena basketball, New York Yankee baseball and 49er's football. Rick was a long time supporter of Siena basketball program and was proud to be a Siena alumnus and Saints' fan,
Survivors in addition to his wife Bernadette and daughter Sarah, include his older brother Robert LaJeunesse, Jr. (Cheryl) of North Carolina, a sister Robin Antonelli (Robert) of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Arrangements by the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, Lansingburgh.

Friday, January 6, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church Waterford,
There will be no calling hours.
Cremation will take place at the Gardner Earl Crematorium.
