Biography
Mary Elizabeth Doody Stone, 86, former Troy, NY resident, peacefully passed away Jan. 14, 2012 at Brockton Hospital in Brockton. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Richard P. Doody and Mary Katherine Dunn Doody and wife of the late Lawrence E. Stone and the late Edward F. Coyne. Mary was a graduate of Holy Names Academy, Albany and earned an associate degree at Briarcliff College, Briarcliff Manor, New York. She held numerous positions in the medical field including Executive Secretary of the Albany County Tumor Registry during the late 1960s. Mary loved her family, friends and pets. She was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed reading histories and mysteries, genealogy and knitting. Her family and friends, as well as hospitals and others, were the lucky recipients of her beautifully knitted afghans, hats and scarves. Mary shared her love of the ocean with her children; spending time at the beach brought her joy. She traveled to various parts of the United States and enjoyed two trips to Ireland during which she visited her family home, Bunmahon, County Waterford. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends including Ruth E. Lincoln of Rockland and Marion Reilly of Guilderland, NY. Survivors include three children, Christine C. Davis and her husband Alfred of Colonie, Jeffrey R. Coyne and his wife Donna of Malden, Susan E. Coyne of Abington; two grandchildren Melissa A. Coyne Martell of Colonie, Mathew L. Coyne and his fianc Karen Rogers of Cambridge; two great-grandsons Ashton and Braden Martell of Colonie. Mary was predeceased by a brother Richard Doody and a sister Ellen Doody. Private burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery, Troy, NY. Arrangements by McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and Third Ave., Troy, New York.
